WIWS 5!

Happy First Sunday in Lent!  I hope you are eating as much candy as I am!  I may or may not have taken some candy from an event yesterday and put it in my purse so I could eat it immediately after Mass today...

And since it's Sunday, that means it's time to link up with Fine Linen and Purple for...

What I Wore Sunday linkup

I wore one of my very favorite black dresses from Target with half-sleeves and a fabulous nursing-friendly top.  The cut of this dress is perfect so it camouflages my pooch pretty effectively!  I've also got my good old Forever 21 square scarf to help with the discreet nursing, tights from college, and my trusty brown boots because it's too cold to wear any other shoes...

PS Prayer request - we're moving on Saturday, please send prayers our way for smooth packing, moving, and managing the kids while the movers are here!

The pole sticking out of my head is part of a basketball hoop that hangs on our basement door.  Classy, eh?

It has been an interesting morning, to say the least.  Some highlights:

1.  John Paul sobbing because the coins I gave him for the poor box weren't correct.  He wanted a quarter, four dimes, and two pennies.  Because a month ago he found that combination of coins in our house.  Yes.
2.  Andrew's car not starting.
3.  John Paul freaking out because we sang the Kyrie in Greek instead of English.
4.  John Paul freaking out because he wanted a different Gospel acclamation.
5.  John Paul freaking out because he didn't want the Gospel to be from Luke.
6.  The babies puking all over themselves, necessitating one outfit change, one outfit that SHOULD have been changed, and a lot of pew clean-up...  (I love that they sleep so much at night, but then when they wake up in the morning they're probably eating like, 4-5 ounces at once since I'm so full, and it's too much for their tiny tummies and they end up puking a lot!)
7.  Cecilia freaking out that John Paul is sitting next to me on the left and SHE wants to be sitting there.  Twice.  No, three times.  VERY loudly.
8.  John Paul collapsing to his knees while lunging for the altar holding my hand while I received Communion.
9.  John Paul loudly proclaiming, "A******* He is risen!!!  It's not Lent anymore!  It's Eastertide!"   Thank you, Captain Liturgically Inappropriate...

But on the plus side, Elizabeth fell asleep nursing and I put her down to switch babies with Andrew and she just totally stayed asleep lying flat on the wooden pew!  So Andrew stayed in the pew with both babies while I took the big kids to communion (which was really exciting for them - Andrew sings at a Latin Mass after our 9 AM, so he doesn't receive until then and usually stays with a baby and a big kid when they both want to go to communion with me).  And she stayed asleep for the rest of Mass, so I got some good snuggle time with the big kids.

    1. Thanks! We're SUPER excited to *be* moved, but not so excited about the actual moving... I'd just like to skip to a month from now and be done with all the unpacking!

    1. Thanks! I'm lucky (and my husband not so much) that every time I've moved since college I haven't actually had to do anything on moving day - taking a test for my teaching certification, pregnant, nursing, pregnant, and now nursing the twins. I get off easy!

  3. Rosie, I'm glad you commented on my blog today, because it made me find yours!

My oldest son (29) has twin daughters who are 20-months-old, and in less than a month, he and his wife will be welcoming another baby. When I read your "About Me" page, I thought what great friends you and my daughter-in-law would make! (One of the twins, by the way, has the same name as your oldest daughter.)

It was great to "meet" you!

    1. Thanks for stopping by! I feel an automatic kinship with anyone with twins in their family, particularly Catholics :)

    1. I'm absolutely becoming a scarf junkie - I had a dream about buying scarves last night, it was a little weird! The kids are definitely my favorite accessories, and WIWS is great because I used to spend more time and effort picking out their outfits than mine, so now I actually have to think about what I wear!

  7. Did Cecilia wear that princess dress to Mass? (Didn't anybody else notice that?)

  10. You look so pulled-together! Very simple and classic outfit. I am sorry about the, um, regurgitation at church. Give yourself a pat on the back for making it through. And I love a toddler in a tutu anytime.

    1. Thanks! The nice thing is, we know that eventually they stop spitting up (of course, that's right about when they start becoming mobile... the fun never ends!).

  11. Your outfit is so cute and I love the picture with children at play. As a side note, I've popped in before but just now read your "about" page. I laughed out loud at Cecilia's baby Jesus food and my husband had to come read what I was laughing about. Our next baby girl will be a Cecilia and yours is so darling, I can't wait to make our own. Hope that didn't sound as creepy as it does to me when I just reread it!

  12. I love the pop of color that your square scarf offers the outfit. A nice jolt of spring. I will add your prayer request to our families prayer list. I hope the move goes well.

  13. Wow, sounds like a fun Mass! Your John Paul is a hoot! I love the outfit. The scarf and boots are adorable, especially with the simple black dress. Maybe I'll try a black dress next week.

    1. Can't go wrong with black - I actually have to stop myself from buying more because I have several at this point (although quite a few are maternity) and I need more variety in my wardrobe!

  14. Rosie, you look amazing! I'm with everyon on the scarf but really love the dress and boots too. I'm still laughing about your "captain liturgically incorrect" :) Prayers for a smooth move!

  15. Loooove your scarf like everyone else does! And many prayers are coming your way for a smoove move. I tremble at the thought of another move since we just did it in December...not fun, not fun at all.

  16. I am a firm believer in scarves. Every mom needs one when out in public. Nursing cover, spit up wiper, impromptu diaper changing pad, something to wrap baby in when they have blown out every last outfit, blanket when child randomly freaks out because they are too cold...
And did I mention I need a wrap dress??? Seriously. I need a wrap dress.
#9 - Starring out Alleluia???!!!! CATHOLIC COMEDIC GOLD. You are hilarious!!!!
