WIWS - No Pants Edition

Sunday, July 7, 2013

Well, this week was actually a pretty good week for Mass, behavior-wise.

Andrew had the week off from singing, and the babies woke up fairly late, so they both got naps in before the 10:30 Mass and were relatively cheerful the entire time.  Hurrah!

John Paul and Cecilia weren't too bad - Cecilia did have to get taken out once, and she kept taking off her sandals (and always insists on taking off her sweater as soon as we get to Mass, I don't know why...).  But she and John Paul didn't fight at all!  And they didn't make the babies cry with their constant attempts to maul them, so I'll give these grades:

John Paul:  B (insisted in kissing Elizabeth 5 times on the head each time he got near her, yanked my arm after communion because he was trying to convince the EM that he had received his First Communion already)

Cecilia:  B (spent a while lying down on the kneeler, but at least she was quiet?  Kept shoving her face into Elizabeth's hands trying to get her to pick her nose...)

Mary Claire:  A (didn't need to nurse, made hardly a peep the whole time, sucked quietly on the carrier when I took her up for communion)

Elizabeth:  A (nursed briefly but I knew she would need to, sat quietly in the carrier for the beginning of Mass, played quietly with toys for the end)

Now pictures...  Well, every week I set up the self-timer and John Paul pretty much always jumps into the picture.  This week he wasn't dressed yet, so I assumed he wouldn't be able to hear me from the playroom.  Well, kid has ears like a bat, so he raaaaaan to me and jumped into the picture in his underwear.  Will these pictures come back to haunt him some day?

Yes.

I call this look "Librarian Chic" - definitely not pairing that cardigan with a full skirt again.  Anyone have good sources for cropped cardigans?  The high waist really needs something cropped, and I gave away all my old cropped sweaters from college because they stopped buttoning after I had babies...

And just so you see that he DID get dressed, here's what John Paul wore to Mass, blurry and shoeless:

Hope your Sunday is beautiful and relaxing!

  1. Hey Rosie! I can't believe I haven't been following your blog forever and ever, but I am glad I am here now :)

I just had Meg stay the weekend at our house, and I feel like I got to know you and your kids so well. Proud Aunt Sister!

I'm really diggin' No Pants July. I am going to go back and read more about it now. Where do you get your skirts?

  2. JP ~ too funny!
I have a couple cropped cardigans from Target but they are a couple years old so don't know if they still carry them.
    Glad Mass over went well.

  3. Librarian chic?! HAHAHA! It doesn't look THAT bad! Love the green skirt. I'm seeing a lot of that green lately...must be a trendy summer color.

  4. He is hilarious!

We had tears today when I tried to take a picture without Sadie (she was behind Paul and couldn't get to me).

And as always you look great! I love full skirts!

    1. He probably would have cried if I hadn't let him get in the picture - we've been having those kinds of moments lately...

  5. Oh, John Paul . . . . ::laughing helplessly:: I wish you'd never deleted that pic of John Paul with sandals on, dashing to the door, but I guess I can see why that would be embarrassing. You might want to delete these two pix, too, for the same reason.

I am wearing a dress right now! And Daddy and I went to Mass!!!! But don't expect me to wear a dress while working in the pumpkin patch. Not gonna happen.

  6. Glad you had a good Sunday at Mass. I cheated and left the boys home with my dad today since we are on vacation and they didn't sleep last night.

  8. haha- that first pict. is too funny! And I don't think it looks bad either! Maybe a belt might help define the waist more? I got rid of most of my cropped cardis too but am finding the same prob. w/ my dresses that have higher waists.

  9. Can you tuck the sweater or it is too thick? I've done that before but maybe it was a huuuuge fashion mistake and you should just ignore my thoughts haha.

These pics will be great for his future wife (too scandalous for just girlfriends ;)

  10. I love everything about this whole outfit. Everything. Especially the shoes. :) We had a good Mass behavior day too...must be in the air. Also, was totally in stitches that JP tried to convince them he'd already made his 1st communion. I have a friend I'm convinced was like that as a kid. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Oh, been loving the No-Pants experiment!! I do, however, need to do laundry. ;)

    1. I know, I have to be a lot more on top of the laundry situation without my pants to fall back on! It's definitely a change from the norm...

  12. I have several cropped cardigans. Most of them, I've found at Ross, believe it or not. My biggest advice is to look in the Juniors section of any store, they seems to be marketed more to younger ladies.

I love the color of your skirt.

  13. Got to love an undies clad photo bomber! That full skirt is fantastic!

  14. I LOVE your expression in that first photo!! And, John Paul in his undies...too funny!!

You look great....and I like the long cardigan. But, if you are looking for shorter ones, I got a really cute, black shrug/sweater about 2 months ago at Wal-Mart. It's a shrug, but actually goes down to about by belly-button so close to being a cropped length. Not sure if they still have it, but it's really useful for throwing on over sleevless tops for Mass.

And you look great! No pants July is awesome. Keep rocking it!

  16. Ok, just had to say that JP is priceless and so adorable! And I just love how you put ties on him. I wish I had the time and motivation to put ties on my boys! And my husband...
