The Priests

These men who give up what society deems to be any hope of a "normal" life in order to minister to the faithful, men who have discerned and obeyed God's call to serve, who take the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience so that they might help us come to know Christ. There is such an amazing selflessness in the priesthood that I just think is impossible to achieve with married clergy in other denominations - to give up all and truly live like Christ, unmarried and celibate, is an incredible testimony.
My sister says it better than I do in her thank you note to priests, but the priesthood, established by Jesus Christ himself, is a huge reason why I love Catholicism.

The Sisters

Despite all that goes on in the secular world, somehow Catholic women are still flocking to the convents, devoting their lives to Christ and service of others, discerning God's call that they be His brides, and leading lives of prayer in community with one another. Not because they're not pretty enough to find a husband, or not motivated enough to have successful careers, but because they have discerned God's call to leave the expectation of a "normal" life and participate in something so much more joyful!
I get SO excited reading the news about convents that are bursting at the seams. And seeing the joy with which these sisters spread the good news is invigorating!

The Friars

Have you heard of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal? They're the cool kids when it comes to religious life - ministering to the poor on skateboards, evangelizing loudly, and spreading God's message everywhere they go! Seriously, look at the guys in that picture! If that doesn't make you love Catholicism, I don't know what will!
Rosie, thanks for linking up!! I absolutely love priests and sisters! One of my brothers is a priest with the Oblates of St. Joseph and another is in the seminary. My sister was considering sisterhood, but alas, it's not her vocation. We love the Franciscans, too, although I can't say I've met any from that order. Overall, we're thankful for Christ, and for the PEOPLE, right? Catholicism is so cool, in a very hipster way. :)
