8/52: Nobody Loves Babies

The really tricky thing about large families is how little anybody cares about babies. They're just... Indifferent. Obviously ;)

Edith comes into our bed in the mornings looking for "Tuuuuuuute Yucy!" She tells me that we have two babies, Lucy and Edith. What kind of baby is Lucy? "TUTE!!!" Edith is *also* a big kid and a little kid and a toddler so... I'm not sure there's any real distinction there.

Cecilia is once again proving to be a baby whisperer. VERY useful when it comes time for meal prep or I need to go to the bathroom. She would almost definitely hold the baby all day long if she were allowed to, and I have to remind her to pass Lucy off to the other kids so they can have a turn. But she always ends up back in Cecilia's arms pretty quickly! I wonder if I can start having her take a night shift ;)

Meanwhile, she who was firmly in the "no children ever" camp is now very unsure of whether that's still the path she wants to take in life. Not everyone is called to have children! But I think she's realized that she loves babies so much that it might be worth it.

Elizabeth has been cheerfully reminding us that since she is going to be a Sister, she'll never have babies of her own. But that's okay! Because Mary Claire will! Apparently when you have a twin, vocations are easy because your twin can take care of anything you might be missing out on.

(John Paul has held her! I just only managed to take a few pictures in the mornings last week, and he's such a late riser he was always still sleeping when I got these!)
