We have ripe strawberries!!! The kids are ecstatic, and sometimes they even manage NOT to eat every single one they pick so that I can use them for dessert... The patch isn't looking very healthy, probably because it's in a really damp area of the yard that's prone to flooding, so I think we're going to try a new area in the hopes of upping production enough that we don't have to keep buying local berries to make jam.
But even if we DID have to keep buying local berries, having a little patch is worthwhile solely because of the amount of time the kids spend snacking out there every day, and how excited they are every time they find a strawberry!
The potatoes are looking excellent again, lettuce is everywhere, pear, peach, plum, cherry, apple, and nectarine trees are full of fruit... Hoping for a productive year in the garden!
