John Paul, Age 11

 John Paul turned 11 in the middle of a very rough week, and I've been laid up in bed, unable to plan his (small, outdoor) birthday party OR make his birthday dinner OR make a cake OR make his requested birthday breakfast. Bless his heart, I know he's been disappointed but he very cheerfully said ice cream cake from the store would be GREAT, and he happily made the overnight waffle batter himself (very proudly, actually, because I said I would tell him all my secrets), and THEN woke up early, prayer Morning Prayer, and went downstairs to make his special birthday waffles for the whole family? This child. He can be so very extra in every way, but I'm definitely seeing glimpses of a future adult who is just going to be amazing. 

I did, however, manage to get his birthday survey done! Now to see if I can get some of the kids to take pictures of him so that I can actually get this post published...

1. What is your favorite color? My favorite color is green, and it has been for as long as I can remember.
2. What is your favorite toy? Maybe Snap Circuits Sound?
3. What is your favorite fruit? Oooooh that's hard... I think maybe either mango or grapefruit.
4. What is your favorite television show? Pokemon.
5. What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch? Uhhh... Quesadillas?
6. What is your favorite outfit? Don't know.
7. What is your favorite game? Ohhh... Chess, maybe.
8. What is your favorite snack? Don't know.
9. What is your favorite animal? Uhhhh... Cats, maybe? Especially kittens.
10. What is your favorite song? Don't know.
11. What is your favorite book? I like the Nathan Hale's Hazardous Tales series a lot, I just got one for my birthday.
12. Who is your best friend? Best friend... I have a few.
13. What is your favorite cereal? My favorite cereal is... Cap'n Crunch.
14. What is your favorite thing to do outside? Sit on the porch and read.
15. What is your favorite drink? I like smoothies a lot.
16. What is your favorite holiday? Christmas, probably, maybe Easter? It's hard to choose.
17. What do you like to take to bed with you at night? Sometimes a book.
18. What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? Pancakes or waffles. Yum!
19. What do you want for dinner on your birthday? Cheeseburgers.
20. What do you want to be when you grow up? Probably some sort of scientist.



I had to add some more questions this year, 11 is so OLD and he has a lot of really wonderful thoughts:
21. What's your favorite subject in school? Uh... Math. Or science.
22. What's your favorite psalm? Hmmm... It's hard to choose. I think either 62 or 100.
23. What do you like to do when you wake up in the morning? Pray Morning Prayer!
24. What's the best thing about being 11? I think my favorite thing is that it means I'm going into middle school.
25. What's your least favorite chore? Washing the dishes.
26. What's your favorite thing growing in the garden right now? Tomatoes.
27. What do you love about your younger siblings? Sometimes they play games with me...
28. How does it feel having more responsibilities since you're the oldest? I don't know... 
29. What's something you think you can improve on now that you're 11? Procrastinating at the dishes.
30. Who are some of your favorite saints? I like... Venerable (soon to be Blessed) Carlo Acutis. I have lots of others, but I can't remember them right now.
