Happy Sunday! Summer is winding down and the cool temperatures are so nice - yesterday I pulled the bags of tomatoes out of the freezer (5 or 6 gallons total) and got a giant stock pot full of sauce started. It's been simmering away for about 24 hours and I think we'll work on canning it this evening. Pasta for dinner (also wine)! The flavor is so amazingly rich, I think we'll be able to use pretty small quantities to get the desired effect.
The kids all helped me peel onions and garlic on the front porch yesterday, and it was so sweet to see how excited they all were to be helping. And not just "helping" but really truly helping! Take heart, moms of only really little kids - the time you put into training them for useful household tasks does pay off eventually!
The big girls all wore new-to-us hand-me-down dresses to Mass this week and were VERY excited to model them!
Cecilia's is far too big and Elizabeth's is borderline too small, but they were so happy and adorable!
Mary Claire and Edith were my Mass buddies today - we made it to the Gospel before we needed to go out because of the fussy baby, who then decided to crawl all over the filthy floor and stick her fingers in her mouth. Immune system of steel, this kid!
We got a couple of new school-ish books (affiliate links included) this week that the kids have really been enjoying, and Mary Claire brought them to Mass (only to read them for a few minutes before Mass began, and then to discard them. This is why I rarely bring anything to entertain older kids!). St. Hildegard is going to be one of the main composers we'll be studying this year, and I thought this was a nice gentle introduction. The girls are really excited to study her! And St. Peter Claver's feast day was Saturday, and he's such an awesome saint that I really wanted to have a book about him. This one was recommended to me and we all really like it!
Your turn!
Post your outfit details & links or not, regale us all with your children's antics, reflect deeply on the readings, or just do a straight picture post - anything goes as long as you actually wore your outfit to church. The link-up is open until Friday, so you've got plenty of time to add your post!
Just a few ground rules before you link up:
1. Please include a photo of what you wore to church this week.
2. Please link back to this post in the body of your post, so your readers know where to find other posts (posts not mentioning "My Sunday Best" or not linking back to this post will be subject to removal).
3. Please visit some other posts in the link-up & leave a nice comment - this is all about affirming each other and building community, not just link dropping :)
4. Make sure the link you add is a link to your specific post or instagram picture (hashtag #mysundaybest and mention me in your caption, @rosiehill425 so I don't miss it!), not just your blog address.
5. Enjoy, and thanks for linking up!
