My Sunday Best, Volume 73: Sun Flare and Goat Wrestling

Sunday, September 24, 2017

Well. Sunday, y'all!

I had such a nice peaceful Mass this morning - we were out all day yesterday were anticipating that the kids would sleep in, and since my mom is out of town (my new baby niece was born! yay!!), I knew it would probably a good idea NOT to try to take everyone to Mass on my own. So I snuck out in the dark to head to the 7 AM Mass, got in some nice prayer time beforehand, sat in the pew by myself the whole time, and headed back for a peaceful day at home!

Well, it *was* peaceful... I got Edith down for a nap and Andrew took John Paul with him for his church job. I went downstairs and saw that the other four kids had set up a "school," complete with a pumpkin "lesson" and lots of drawings.

My favorite is the apple with slugs in it that Mary Claire drew!

They went into the yard to look for the fourth small chair and saw that the goats were out... They've been escaping from their yard lately, but have just stayed right by their fence.

UNTIL TODAY!

So I chased them around the yard with weeds, trying to entice them away from the young trees, broccoli seedlings, raspberry bushes... They had quite the feast. Finally I got through to Andrew and enticed them back to their yard with a bucket of goat feed my mom had been smart enough to buy. We'll see how long they stay in there... And I was still wearing my Mass dress!!!

So I was going to write a reflection on how much I love the gospel from today, but now I can't stop thinking about the goats eating all my broccoli seedlings... I'm sure there's some sort of lesson in that, but I don't know what it is!

If you only check in here on Sundays, you missed this week's posts - a fall style guide and a ringing endorsement of ukuleles as a first instrument for kids. And adults... My new ukulele skills have led to quite a lot of song writing around here - this one might make you smile:

I wanted to have a few more links for you this week, but I need to go check on the goats... So for now, I highly recommend checking out the big sale at Boden (affiliate links!) - this jersey dress gets great reviews from lots of moms I know because it's nursing-friendly, and it's an awesome deal right now! This crossover jersey dress would also be a really great summer-to-fall transition piece, and is also nursing-friendly. Happy shopping! And Happy Sunday! May yours be filled with MUCH less goat-wrangling than mine.

Your turn!

Post your outfit details & links or not, regale us all with your children's antics, reflect deeply on the readings, or just do a straight picture post - anything goes as long as you actually wore your outfit to church. The link-up is open until Friday, so you've got plenty of time to add your post!

Just a few ground rules before you link up:

1. Please include a photo of what you wore to church this week.

2. Please link back to this post in the body of your post, so your readers know where to find other posts (posts not mentioning "My Sunday Best" or not linking back to this post will be subject to removal).

3. Please visit some other posts in the link-up & leave a nice comment - this is all about affirming each other and building community, not just link dropping :)

4. Make sure the link you add is a link to your specific post or instagram picture (hashtag #mysundaybest and mention me in your caption, @rosiehill425 so I don't miss it!), not just your blog address.

5. Enjoy, and thanks for linking up!
