Another year, another All Saints' Day! This year I actually didn't buy a single thing for their costumes at the last minute, which was pretty nice - Cecilia's costume was a last-minute purchase last year when this Mary costume (affiliate link!) went on crazy sale, and she waited patiently for this year's All Saints' Day so that she could wear it (she's almost 10 and on the short side, size small was perfect on her) to be Our Lady of Fatima. It didn't take much convincing to get Mary Claire, Elizabeth, and Peter to dress as Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco! The twins were happy to wear dish towels on their heads and clothes I had bought for last year's costumes (which ended up part of everyone's regular wardrobe, the BEST kind of costume purchase), and Peter got grumpy and just wanted to wear regular clothes with a scarf wrapped around his head. Honestly, kind of in character considering the few pictures of Francisco that we have!
John Paul was extremely excited to dress as Bl. Carlo Acutis, Edith was St. Adelaide because it meant she could wear her princess dress, and Lucy was going to be a sheep again but I couldn't find the costume... And it's a good thing, because then she saw the princess dress and that's the ONLY thing she wanted to wear. So she was... some saint who ate strawberries? Toddlers get a pass.
They all look so saintly, and cute too.
ReplyDeleteI do believe there was an Our Lady of Fatima Shrine in Lewiston, NY and although it was a looong time ago, my parents would drive there and get our car blessed. There is a 13 foot statue of her there as well. Cecilia would be very tiny next to that statue!
Your rose bush is still going strong and makes a great background for the pictures.
How cool! That statue would certainly make her look tiny :)
