Good morning and happy pie-for-breakfast day! Because let's be real, that's what the day after Thanksgiving is all about. My breakfast pie of choice? Dutch Apple Pie, the most superior of all pies.

--2--

I'm officially in my 3rd trimester, which means I get to eat two pieces of pie for breakfast, right? Right.

And look! Here's a large-and-in-charge picture of my rather large almost-26-week belly to prove to you that, despite general lack of documentation, I'm pregnant!

We're in Christmas present making mode, and Jen from Faith & Fabric sent over some of her sew-a-saint kits and John Paul and Cecilia are excited to make MORE presents for their siblings! If you use the code THANK YOU you can get 10% off, so definitely check out her shop, especially if you love shopping small :)

--4--

And speaking of shopping small! Lots of other small shops are running sales right now/will be this weekend—you can check out my Shop Small Gift Guide if you need ideas.

My friend Jenna runs Call Her Happy and everything in her shop is 20% off until the 26th, including the new edition of her book, Lazy Liturgical. It's a super-sweet, gentle guide to observing the liturgical year, perfect for families looking to up their game without getting overwhelmed by too many opportunities! Look for a giveaway here next week.

It dipped down to 19 degrees tonight so we will NOT be doing outdoor activities for Black Friday, which means a lot of time sitting around and tracking deals... I'm updating this post throughout the weekend in case you don't want to scour the internet for deals yourself (although a $70 8qt Instant Pot may be the only thing you were waiting for!). Make sure to use your Amazon book coupon before it expires!

I'm now in Thanksgiving leftover planning mode. Turkey pot pie is definitely on the list, and probably ham & potato soup at some point... What's your favorite thing to make with Thanksgiving leftovers?

--7--

Cheesy last take: I'm thankful for you! I know I've got a very small readership, but I maintain that anyone who sticks with my ramblings here is generally an awesome person, and that has been proven time and again. So thank you for being so awesome!

Linking up with Kelly!

  1. Yup all the pie is yours! Due to stupid hospital policy, I had to put the kibosh on weight gain this July so I could have the midwife in the "birth center"(a fancy hospital room) instead of in L&D with the midwife. I don't know how I could have done it if pie had been sitting around! Pie is my favorite dessert. My slightly large sized 8# 10 oz boy arrived in the birth center. (We are ticked because we see nothing from a safety/medical perspective that is present in L&D but not the "birth center".) ---MariaE

  3. Our favorite turkey left-over recipe is Sonoran Chicken Strudel from one of the mystery novels by Diane Mott Davidson. So good.

  5. How are you 26 weeks?! I'm sure it doesn't feel like it to you, but wow! your pregnancy has flown by from an online casual reader (stalker) point of view.

    1. Okay, internet pregnancies legitimately go factor than real-life ones so that's totally not weird!

  6. I plan to have as few leftovers as I can manage. I make a minimum for Thanksgiving because 1) many of my kids are not into leftovers and 2) I hate the space they take up in the fridge . I will sometimes make broth and soup from the carcass, but this year I looked at the dejected pile of bones and couldn't bring myself to do it. I hope your last trimester goes smoothly!

    1. That's a legit strategy! I've always really loved leftovers because I'm weird ;) Meanwhile I told the kids they could eat the turkey dark meat and they've just been eating it cold straight out of the fridge so evidently I should've just been serving it cold all along!
