WIWS - January Style

Sunday, January 12, 2014

We had a rather odd occurrence happen this morning - somehow Mary Claire was the baby who ended up in our bed in the wee hours, and Elizabeth ended up staying in her crib until 7:30.  What the what?  This has never happened before.  And she was SO confused and amazed when she woke up and was in her crib and it was light outside.  Again, never happened before.  So weird.  And awesome - let's hope this becomes a trend!  Sleeping babies would make me veeeeeeeery happy.

Aaaaaanyway, immediately upon waking this morning, John Paul's first question was, "Could I please have my January 12 Magnifikid?  It's the Baptism of our Lord!!!  It's Ordinary Time now!!!"

Gotta love a little liturgy nerd.

I very sneakily headed into the babies' room this morning and took a picture without the kids bombarding me and trying to knock the camera off of whatever makeshift surface I used THAT week to take my outfit picture...

Here's what I wore:

Hat:  Zulily
Scarf:  Amazon (here)
Shirt:  H&M
Dress (styled as a skirt):  Ann Taylor via Twice
Tights:  H&M
Shoes:  DSW
Belt:  Stolen off a sweater from...  I dunno?  JC Penney?  It's old...
Unwashed hair:  Earliest riser woke at 7, so no time to shower!  Thank goodness for hats :)

I'm working on a winter mom style post - mostly it consists of layering sweaters and long-sleeved tops over my same old summer staples and wearing tights...  Is it worth writing/taking pictures of outfits?  We shall see...  What do you think - will you read it?

Linking up with Fine Linen & Purple - happy Sunday!

  1. I thought of you this morning after having a "fashion moment". So the parish has gotten to know me as the "lady with the hats" and I had a lady come up to me in the coffee line and tell me I looked like a fashion model in my outfit, yay confidence boost! I always get ideas from the Sunday post!

    1. I really need you to take pictures of your hats! I kind of need "hatspiration" - I just have a couple I rotate but would looooove adding more to my collection :)

  5. I'm always up for a winter style post! I'm really feeling frumpy these days with the cold weather and having just had a cold.
Just curious...between the twins how many times do you normally get woken up per night?? I don't have twins and doubt I ever will as they don't run in our families, but I am sure curious!

    1. Oof... It depends on the night, some nights as many as 10 times, sometimes only twice. I reeeeeeally look forward to the day when they're both sleeping well!

  6. That top is adorable! I wore a blouse over a dress today, too, so I am in favor of that look. I've actually started looking to buy dresses that can be worn as skirts more often. I've been hooked on empire waists for so long that I usually can't, but with my newer dresses, I can.

    1. It sometimes works with empire waist dresses, depending on the styling - I have an empire waist maxi dress that I style as a skirt most of the time and it actually works really well!

  7. Your hat is adorable. I have recently come to embrace a great newsboy-style hat. And I'm always up for winter style posts. Heck, winter lasts until May here some years (last year, I'm looking at you!)... :(

  9. Love this whole look! Do you like H&M tights? I'm loving my fleece-lined tights since they seem near impervious to snagging. But I need to get another pair for spring that's still thick but not fleecy. Also: dress styled as skirt, genius.
