Lucy is 2!!! She's been convinced it's her birthday every single day since we started our birthday season in November... It's been a rough couple months! We finally celebrated a few days early, since the first Friday in Lent was not a great day for her requested foods (beef and chocolate cake, because she likes brown foods the best). And now she has finally stopped trying to convince the rest of us that every single day is her birthday! My favorite was when we lit the Advent candles for the first time and she gasped, "It's my BIRFDAY!!!"

She is quite a character. Probably the least-shy child we've ever had, she warms up to strangers (the few she encounters) ridiculously quickly, and always wants to know everyone's name, which is helpful when I forget because Lucy can just ask! She loves being read to and being sung to, and has a huge vocabulary and range of songs and poems memorized. She dropped her nap around 18 months, the little stinker, and instead "rests" in her crib for an hour, hollering every song she knows at the top of her lungs while jumping up and down or kicking the wall.

I tried to get her to do a birthday survey, with limited results...

1. What is your favorite color? Mmm... *looks at her pajamas* mmm... Pink! Pink eyephant!

2. What is your favorite toy? Umm a chipmunk (currently holding a chipmunk calico critter).

3. What is your favorite fruit? Mmm... Orange.

7. What is your favorite game? Ummm... A fireman. ???
8. What is your favorite snack? Ummm chips.
9. What is your favorite animal? Mmmm... *looks at board game piece she's holding* Mr. Prickles! (a cardboard hedgehog for a board game)
10. What is your favorite song? Mm... Mmm... Mmmmmmmm... *starts singing nonsensically, I think something from our Singsong Pennywhistle CD*

  1. At my house, she frequently asks for a long fabric remnant to be tied around her midsection so that she can be a "mudder." "Oh, you're a mother! Who is your baby?" "Baby Jude," she tells me, and then she scampers away. (As you know, Rosie, Jude is a baby in another family.)
